Respect for Historicity's Vitality

Even if we have made mistakes in the past, we can learn from them and become better people....

Once upon a time, there was a man who was married twice. He divorced his first wife because of violence, and he remarried soon after to a woman with a child. He was now looking for his third wife.

The man’s phone was always left in the middle of his desk, surrounded by mugs, donut halves, tissue paper, permanent marker pens, and more. A photo of a smiling toddler was displayed as a wallpaper on the smartphone. The infant was his child from his second marriage.

The man was a historian, and he believed that the historicity of existence should be respected because it is the foundation of our identity and our understanding of the world. He believed that the study of history helps us to understand the root causes of conflict and violence, to appreciate the diversity of human cultures and perspectives, and to understand the challenges and opportunities that we face today.

One day, the man was working at his desk when he received a notification on his phone. It was a message from his second wife, who had recently filed for divorce. She told him that she was leaving him because he was a terrible husband and a bad father.

The man was devastated. He didn’t understand why his wife was leaving him, and he was heartbroken to be losing his child. He sat at his desk for a long time, staring at the photo of his toddler on his phone.

Finally, the man decided to pick up his phone and call his first wife. He hadn’t spoken to her in years, but he was desperate for someone to talk to.

The man’s first wife was surprised to hear from him, but she was willing to listen. She told him that she was sorry to hear about his divorce, and she offered him her support.

The man and his first wife talked for a long time. They talked about their past, their mistakes, and their hopes for the future. The man realized that he had a lot to learn from his first wife, and he was grateful for her forgiveness.

The next day, the man went to visit his child. He spent the day playing with his toddler and getting to know him better. He realized that he loved his child more than anything in the world, and he was determined to be a better father.

The man also started going to therapy to deal with his anger and violence issues. He knew that he needed to change if he wanted to be a good husband and father.

Over time, the man became a better person. He stopped being violent, and he became a more loving and supportive husband and father. He also became a more respected historian, and his work helped to promote peace and understanding in the world.

The historicity of existence
It is the record of the events, people, and ideas that have shaped our present.
The historicity of existence is the foundation of our identity and our understanding of the world.
Without a respect for the historicity of existence, we are lost in a sea of competing narratives and perspectives.
The historicity of existence is important because it helps us to understand who we are, learn from the past, and build a better future.

The man’s story is a reminder that it is never too late to change. Even if we have made mistakes in the past, we can learn from them and become better people.
