He was finally starting to figure things out....

The man sat at his desk, staring at the phone in the middle of it. It was buzzing again, and he knew it was probably his wife, calling to check on him. He sighed and picked it up.

“Hello?”

“Where are you?” his wife’s voice demanded. “You’re supposed to be home by now.”

“I’m just finishing up some work,” he lied. “I’ll be home soon.”

He hung up the phone and put it back on his desk. He took a deep breath and tried to focus on his work, but it was no use. He couldn’t stop thinking about his wife.

He had met her last year, after his divorce. She had been divorced too, and she had a young child. He had been drawn to her immediately, and they had fallen in love quickly. They had gotten married a few months later.

But now, things were not going so well. He was finding it difficult to adjust to being a stepfather, and his wife was always on his case about something. He was starting to feel trapped.

He looked at the photo of his son on his phone. The toddler was smiling, but the man couldn’t help but feel guilty. He was not a good father. He was not even a good husband.

What was he doing with his life?

He didn’t know. But he knew that he needed to make a change.

He stood up and walked over to the window. He looked out at the city below. The lights were twinkling, and the traffic was moving fast. It was a world of possibility.

He turned away from the window and walked back to his desk. He picked up his phone and opened his dating app. He started scrolling through the profiles.

Maybe it was time to find a third wife.

The man sat at the bar, sipping his drink. He was on his third date in two weeks. He was determined to find a new wife, and he was not going to let anything stop him.

He looked across the bar at his date. She was pretty, and she seemed nice. But he couldn’t help but feel like something was missing.

She was talking about her job, and he was nodding along, but he wasn’t really listening. He was thinking about his son, and about his ex-wife. He was thinking about his life.

He realized that he didn’t need a new wife. He needed to fix his old life.

He stood up and excused himself. He walked to the bathroom and splashed some water on his face. He looked at himself in the mirror.

Who was he? What did he want?

He didn’t have all the answers, but he knew one thing for sure. He didn’t need a third wife.

He left the bar and walked down the street. He took a deep breath and smiled. He was finally starting to figure things out.
