I suppose nothing has ever succeeded in top-down decision making.
decision making | top-down | bottom-up | an example |
---|---|---|---|
speed | fast | slow | |
open-call process | skipped | gathering widespread opinion | |
temporary reservation | about one week |
I understand that top-down work is fast.
The project will progress quickly if the open-call process is largely skipped.
However, in that case, the risk that the project will start cannot be denied regardless of the top qualities and the presence of a support system.
So I affirm that top-down decision making is not a wise choice.
On the contrary, what about a bottom-up system?
This method of gathering widespread opinion is compatible with the principle of majority voting and minimizes dissent.
However, this method also has a fatal flaw. That is, the project execution speed is extremely slow.
I would like to introduce an example.
Once a plan is envisioned, document it first.
Then circulate the document to everyone involved.
It’s a step called temporary reservation.
The reservation period was about one week. The plan is cancelled if someone makes a strong disagreement within that period.
If you can’t see the opposition, the plan is go.
Of course, following these steps would waste at least a week.
But isn’t this the best solution?
