When I bought the commuter pass, I had to wait a long time.
There are usually three windows at the station. There is only one window open now. Moreover, the business hours were shortened, so passengers were waiting in line. It was a weekday daytime, so it was a line of 5 or 6 people.
There was only one window open, so I stood in a line for a while. Vinyl tape was attached to the floor, and the position of the line and the distance between people in front and behind were instructed. Passengers purchasing commuter passes and designated tickets were lined up in order.
While I was waiting, I was attacked by a strange feeling of dejab. I felt like I had experienced this kind of thing someday.
I wondered what it was, and when I was desperately thinking about it, I remembered playing as a kid. I set a boundary line by drawing a line on the ground outside and played various things under the constraint.
Children seem to be free to play and have small rules. To put it the other way around, if there are no rules, play cannot be achieved.
It feels like we have entered the Corona War, even though the world is peaceful, and we must take new actions under new rules. But I can’t let go of the feeling that this is a play.
Because the rules are always changed whimsically, and the content changes as much as a betrayal. The new rules are provisional.
And even then, we will find modest freedom.
I don’t know how the new rules will change. But in a new life constrained by ever-changing rules, we will be hit by an old sense of dejabu.
