To put it simply, the latest trend is that television is no longer watched. And many lost their watches.
Not only does the sun rise aimlessly, it indicates the approximate time of day. The angle and height of the sun allow us to determine if it is morning or afternoon.
The moon is not only visible, but also informs about the time of the month. The shape of the moon was important for farmers.
And the stars gave us geographical information. Some special stars did not move much, so we could know the direction based on that star. On journeys over the sea where mountains and other high targets could not be found, the ancients could read the stars and continue their voyage.
It seems that sailors were sometimes given a manual during the astronomical navigation. A thick manual with detailed information on the angle of the stars was distributed, but there were some errors when actually using it, and it seems that the numbers were corrected and used on the spot.
Extracting information from nature is just “wisdom,” not knowledge. Wisdom is deeply linked to survival. In that sense, do we who are living today have wisdom? Isn’t the information we absorb only knowledge?
