Cooked in advance and wait for customers to buy it

The principle of business is to make a profit. However, the means is to stay close to the customer’s heart.....

In addition to the ingredients, supermarkets also sell cooked products. It is a system where cooked products are not cooked after receiving an order but are cooked in advance and wait for customers to buy it.

For example price
cooked list price
17:00 10% off
19:00 30% discount
21:00 half-price
unsold food loss

Therefore, unlike cooked foods made by order, these cooked products have an unsold portion. Unsold food should be officially discarded, but food loss is also a big loss for stores.

In order to reduce the final unsold amount, the store reduces the price of the product. For example, for cooked foods, the product that is unsold at 17:00 will be discounted. A sticker “10% off” will be attached to the package.

Now, at 19:00, a 30% discount sticker will be attached to the unsold products. The discount of 30% from the list price is attractive, so the customer compares the contents and price of the product and decides whether to add it to the cart.

Now, at 21:00, all the products that aren’t bought despite the 30% off price are all lacking in glitz. The reason why the 30% discount product is not purchased by the customer can be seen by looking at the appearance of the product.

Still, as a last resort, half-price stickers are applied to avoid disposal costs.

One night I was in charge of putting a half-price sticker on.

At 20:50, about 5 items with 30% discount remained. Cut these in half. One middle-aged man was looking at the product at the sales floor.

The middle-aged man knew that the unsold items would be half price at 21:00 and was a customer waiting for a sticker to be put on.

I was a little wondering if I should put on a half price sticker. This is because the store’s general manager was inspecting the sales floor some distance away.

(Buy now!)

21:00. Somehow, I talked to the customer.

“If you don’t mind, I’ll stick a half price sticker.”

I ignored all the gaze of the general manager who blames my stupidity, and cut all the products at half price. Then,

“Oh, thank you. All right, I’ll buy all.”

He put all the half-price items in the cart.

“Thank you”

The principle of business is to make a profit. However, the means is to stay close to the customer’s heart.

Is it an ideal?
